I see that Anthropologie is already putting out ornaments and one-of-a-kind stocking stuffers. I love this time of year.

I had a conniption fit when we talked about Giacomo Balla's painting, Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash, in my Early 20th-Century class today:
I felt like I had seen this painting before, perhaps at a traveling exhibition. It's beautiful nonetheless.
Second, I also had a conniption fit in class when we discusssed these photographs by Eadweard Muybridge. I recall seeing a great deal of his catalogue at the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk years ago. I thought it was so cool that he proved, just by taking photographs, that when horses gallop, all four of their hooves leave the ground. I also recall that he was a pervert. I believe his work was shown with John Singer Sargent's portraits of children.

I highly recommend that you read The Futurist Manifesto written by F. T. Marinetti in 1909. I felt that it was a passionate, valid, realistic, yet unlikely piece of writing. Upon reading, and imagining the outcome, my thoughts were to immediately reference Aphex Twin's "acid techno" of 2004 and Kurt Vonnegut's 1961 short story, "Harrison Bergeron," with their seemingly random and chaotic, yet orderly perspective.
I would love to know your thoughts.
